Don’t Bet On IT !

Well, a few years ago I heard a story about the new WNET facility, where
everything – including the voice mail system – is tied in to the IT
infrastructure. One weekend the backbone crashed – and the transmitter,
loosing its remote control signal, went off the air.

It was only after a producer located a POTS fax connection that the MCR
engineer was able to dial-in to the transmitter via modem and get it
back on-air.

Don’t need a monitor ? Don’t bet on IT !
